At Allen Carpet & Home, home design is more than a business it’s a legacy that spans four generations. Our story begins in the early 1900s, when my great-grandfather, an Irish immigrant, came to America through Ellis Island and found work at the Alexander Smith Carpet Company. At the time, it was the largest carpet manufacturer in the nation and a pioneer in revolutionizing Axminster-style carpet production through the invention of a power loom. He worked alongside fellow immigrants, crafting some of the finest carpets of the era—carpets that combined beauty with durability, thanks to cutting-edge techniques. His legacy of hard work, craftsmanship, and community continues to guide us today at Allen Carpet & Home.

It feels like fate that I founded our business in Yonkers—the same city where my great-grandfather helped lay the foundation for American carpet manufacturing nearly a century ago. In continuing his legacy, I’ve worked to grow and evolve the business, and today we proudly serve our community from three locations: Yonkers, Mohegan Lake, and Mt. Kisco, NY.
