Custom Area Rugs & Rug Binding in Westchester County, NY
When a standard rug will not fit your space, a custom area rug will. At Allen Carpet & Home, we create custom area rugs and offer professional rug binding, turning the carpet style you love into a beautifully finished, perfectly sized rug. Serving Yonkers, Mohegan Lake, Mt. Kisco, and the surrounding Westchester County communities, we bring more than a century of family flooring and carpet expertise to every custom piece.
What Is a Custom Area Rug?
A custom area rug starts with a piece of carpet in the style, color, and texture you choose. We cut it to your exact dimensions and bind the edges so they will not fray, creating a finished rug with clean, durable borders. The result is a one-of-a-kind area rug sized precisely for your room, hallway, landing, or open-concept space.
As Westchester County's largest stocking dealer of carpet, including luxurious 100% wool, we offer an enormous range of styles to start from, so your custom rug can be as practical or as premium as you like.
Professional Rug Binding
Rug binding is the finishing process that turns a cut piece of carpet into a proper area rug. The raw edges are wrapped and secured for a tailored border and a long life. We provide both carpet binding and area rug binding as part of our flooring services, which means we can also re-edge existing rugs that have started to fray, extending the life of pieces you already own.

Perfect for Westchester Homes
Custom rugs solve real problems in local homes. Long hallways, oddly shaped rooms, large open living areas, and stair landings rarely fit standard rug sizes. In the historic homes of Mt. Kisco and Yonkers, generously proportioned rooms and long halls often call for custom dimensions, while lake homes around Mohegan Lake benefit from durable, custom-sized rugs that add warmth over hard-surface floors and protect them from sandy feet and moisture. Why Area Rugs Matter
An area rug does more than decorate. It defines a seating or dining area, adds warmth and softness over hard floors, introduces color and pattern, and protects high-traffic paths from wear. Layered over hardwood, luxury vinyl, or tile, the right rug pulls a room together and makes it feel complete.
Design Guidance, In-Store or at Home
Choosing the right size, color, and style is easier with expert help. As a full-service design center, we offer in-house design services and a shop-at-home option that brings samples to you, so you can see how a custom rug will look in your own space, light, and furniture arrangement before you commit.
